We had a chance to sit down with Moey Nelson-Carruth, a Nordstrom Visual Stylist and Merchandiser, to talk about formal style trends she is seeing for the upcoming year.

Did you know that Nordstrom has a whole wedding site? You can search for actual dresses and find more about bridesmaid trends. You can find tons of information and inspiration on their Wedding Suite blog.

Do you see a difference between the trends seasonally?

As far as I’ve seen, spring will be pastel, like pinks and a buttery yellow:

and this winter is all about jewel tones like turquoise, blues, and greens:

Bridesmaid fashion tips:

- Look in all price points! Remember that while you may find something you like at a high end boutique, a local retailer may have something very similar for half the price.

- If you are looking for something completely unique get them hand made! There are all kinds of artists on etsy who make their living just making bridal party wear.

- Don’t forget about vintage or even ebay.

- If you want to be on trend, check out what is coming down the runways right now! A good reference for upcoming fashion is http://www.style.com
Every designer shows archived designs and includes fall 2012 and spring 2013 ready-to-wear.
